Sopra Steria, a European leader in consulting, digital services and software development, and its subsidiary Galitt, specialized in payments, have announced that they have been awarded a new contract by the European Payments Council (EPC). The Group will become the Homologation Body for applicants to the SEPA Request-to-Pay (SRTP) scheme.
Etienne Goosse, Director General of the European Payments Council (EPC): “We welcome the appointment of Sopra Steria as Homologation Body for the EPC’s new SEPA Request-to-Pay (SRTP) scheme which completes
the effective launch of the SRTP scheme. Homologation is an important step and the Homologation Body plays a key independent role in the SRTP scheme’s adherence process, which needs to ensure a proper balance between the safeguard
of the integrity of the SRTP scheme and the principle of proportionality.” |
Cyril Malargé, Group Chief Operating Officer of Sopra Steria commented: “Sopra Steria and its subsidiary Galitt will support the European Payments Council in developing Request-to-Pay – one of the most
innovative payment solutions in Europe – which a large number of banks, payment service providers and other market players are expected to launch within the coming years. This project will be underpinned by Sopra Steria's capabilities
in payments and cybersecurity. It confirms the major role played by our Group in the European financial services industry.” |
Pierre Lahbabi, CEO of Galitt added: “We are delighted to contribute to the launch of the Request-to-Pay scheme in Europe by becoming the homologation body with Sopra Steria. Alongside EPC and its stakeholders, we
share the conviction that RTP will create an abundance of new opportunities in Europe. Following this announcement, the way is now open for Request-to-Pay service providers to become member of the scheme and launch their services on
the market.” |
