AI for Software Engineering

Reimagining software development

Forget any debate about the utility of GenAI in software engineering; its impact is felt across all sectors and geographies daily. Sopra Steria has long embraced this transformative tech, researching and testing its potential throughout all stages of the software development cycle.

Beyond just productivity, GenAI eases the burden on developers, relieving them of mundane tasks such as unit testing and standard code generation. It also enhances app quality, through improved and automated code review and test coverage.

We powerfully advocate for the industrial-scale deployment of these AI tools, at every stage of the software lifecycle due to the huge value they bring to teams.

At Sopra Steria, we practise what we preach. We bring the full force of our AI insight to bear for our software engineering teams and continuously adapt and improve our deployment as the technology and our experts evolve.

Preparing Nursing Students with VR Training for Real-World Challenges

Title : Preparing Nursing Students with VR Training for Real-World Challenges

To bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare challenges, the Expertise Centrum Extended Reality at Landstede collaborated with Sopra Steria to develop a state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) training programme for nursing students. This innovative solution immerses students in a realistic virtual hospital setting, equipping them with critical skills in triage and clinical reasoning that would be difficult to replicate in a traditional classroom environment. Another part of this training takes place within a military ambulance, where students learn to make split-second decisions in highly stressful situations to save the life of a critically injured soldier.

The VR training, now an integral part of the nursing curriculum, allows students to experience high-pressure scenarios in a simulated field hospital, preparing them for situations they may face in demanding environments such as military or emergency care. Within the VR environment, students learn to assess and prioritise injuries, handle complex patient interactions, and apply their knowledge in a controlled but challenging setting.

“VR has now become indispensable in our healthcare training programmes,” says René Clausen, from the Expertise Centrum Extended Reality at Landstede. “This technology not only enhances the learning experience but also ensures that students enter the workforce with a level of preparedness that is truly invaluable.”

“We notice that VR training enormously increases the intrinsic motivation of our students,” says Hedy Siemerink, project coordinator at the Expertise Centrum Extended Reality at Landstede. “We want to lead the way in educational development. VR training gives us a huge digital advantage – thanks to Sopra Steria.”

The VR solution has been met with high engagement and positive feedback from students and instructors alike. By enabling nursing students to practise their skills in lifelike scenarios, this VR training enhances confidence and competence, ultimately contributing to better patient care and safety.
